Hello All

Wow, what a great time for wings activity and especially to  create some enthusiasm and excitement about Subud youth activities in the world. Here is an update of Rhyana and my recent meeting with our fellow Wing Coordinators on the World Subud Council. This was a first opportunity to get to know one another properly after World Congress in Innsbruck, and to share ideas and visions for potential joint wings projects and initiatives.

All the wings were represented: Sharifin Gardiner of Susila Dharma, now with 70 associate members participating in humanitarian projects around the world; SIHA with Maxwell Fraval creating a wellness center in Australia for consideration elsewhere; SICA chairlady Olivia Moyano finding her way through work with so much breadth; Sachlan Fraval of SES our enterprise wing; and Rhyana Blakely and I with Subud Youth Activities. Osanna Vaughn and Maya Bernardes kept us on track from the organizational side, and we had three international helpers there to keep us hooked up to the juice with latihans and testing each morning. In all, about forty participants added to the feeling of an international affair.

Rhyana and I had a chance to meet together the first couple days, before most participants came, and solidify our partnership in the work we need to do for the coming three years. It was the first time we met since our appointment at the International Congress in Innsbruck. How sweet to be together after about eight months of e-mails. Our emphasis was on youth travel and participation, supporting the latihan needs of our youth, youth gatherings and finding ways to work together with young members around the world.

Once all arrived we began to have meetings after latihan, and each wing was given an opportunity to give reports and look to the future. Once Rhyana talked, it was clear that our young people would be at the core of wing development for the future. There was such an energy filled with care and inclusion that self interest could be set aside. Morning testing helped give inner content to the meetings each day. There was a continual feeling that we were moving ahead together.

Our first joint wings project will be fundraising for the Susila Dharma projects in India. More will come out on this in the very near future. We worked on means to further develop our volunteering possibilities to SD projects. Alexandra Woodword, just returning from a volunteer stint with Mithra in India, had corresponded the need to give more information to those wishing to do this work and her willingness to assist in that area. A talent bank for youth and creating and exploring work opportunities within Subud was discussed. The upcoming youth gathering in August at Bucelas, Portugal was promoted and potential for more of these in the near future developed. There will be a Spirit of Enterprise meeting for youth in Australia in February 2007 and possibly more creative ideas and developments coming from these types of meetings at other youth gatherings. Wheels turning.

There was also a lot of attention given to the need to nurture young members so that the latihan could develop from within and result to an outer expression of that development. Here the needs are great, and it will take all of us pulling together to continue to build the sense of unity with love, care and patience for each other. Rhyana and I hope that we can have a small role in all these efforts that lie ahead. We ask for your support and energy in this development. We will need it. Our 18 international helpers will also play a key role in supporting each of you, Rhyana and me.

We will be attending the council meeting in Bangalore, India this coming August as representatives of the needs of SYAI. Please let us know your thoughts, hopes, and dreams so that we might better express them to the World Subud Council.

We would like to thank Halim Korzybski who is developing the property at La Source, France and was our host, and all those who helped to make our stay there wonderful and productive.

Sincerely in Subud, Hamilton and Rhyana, SYAI
