SICA AGM & CULTURAL GATHERING
May 6-9, 2004, Subud New York Chelsea Center (USA)
Four wings, a head, the members --- but we are all part of the body of Subud. The awakening occurs slowly but certainly. We cannot go on churning in our own little worlds: We are each of us an integral and valuable part of the whole Subud World.
 We were seventeen from around the world, meeting for the SICA Annual General Meeting. More importantly, we collaborated with the New York Subud group to bring a cultural event to the Chelsea Subud Center. During the weekend, an art exhibition, creativity workshops and concerts were held. In bringing light through these events, and transforming a space, one of our Subud centers became a Lighthouse. By bringing light to Subud centers around the world through culture and creativity, we can all become Lighthouses, visible in our community....
We talked about SICA finding a new identity, budgets, organizational challenges and shared experiences working during the last year: We started to feel that we were not spending our own money and energy for nothing! However, what captures our focus, energy and imagination is World Congress 2005. We feel that that our goal as Subud members for the World Congress is an extraordinary opportunity to work together, being fully aware of our individual roles. From this, we now come to understand that the word “SICA” is only a legal requirement, and that each one of us has talent that needs to be expressed in action. We have no word yet to express this reality.
The World Congress gives us a great way to put these talents into practice: How can we inspire initiate, support, and realize our potential and come into Be-ing, by taking action, exchanging with others, creating a space. Let’s make this global activity our project until the Congress!
We became aware during the meeting that our role in the World Subud Association is to encourage the blooming of our Be-ing; to facilitate each one of us as Subud members to connect with our true individuality and to support each other in its expression.
Our role is to give our full support and creativity to the all Subud members and their Council.
In conclusion, with this new understanding, we will help generate a dynamic participation at World Congress 2005. Soon we will be contacting you with ways to participate to make this congress a reality.
