Susila Dharma International Association (SDIA) is a global, member-based network made up of twenty-three national Susila Dharma organizations and forty-five development projects.
The mission of the SDIA Network is to relieve human suffering and promote just and sustainable development through:
- Partnerships and support for grassroots, participatory development and humanitarian initiatives;
- Empowering individuals and communities to engage in positive human, social and economic change;
- Raising awareness of global issues and inter-dependence.
We work in four development areas: Child Development, Peace Building and Education; Health and Well-Being; Community Development and Sustainable Livelihoods; and Protection of the Environment.
New on our Website
SDIA is an affiliate of the World Subud Association (WSA). For more information about WSA go to their website at http://subud.org
SDIA opened a new and experimental section of our website, Shop Susila Dharma. The proceeds from items sold in this section go to benefit both SDIA and individual projects. Alluminate Accessories, a spin-off project of A Child's Garden of Peace is offering our first line of products — fabulous evening bags made from salvaged materials. Illene Pevec writes:
Your purchase of an Alluminate Accessory supports twenty women artisans and their families. The profits help neighborhood youth to go to college. The scholarship recipients give 4 hours daily to the younger children in a program based in personal, community and environmental responsibility. The young people collectively plant trees, do recycling and trash education, learn nutrition through gardening and healthy snacks, and engage in experiential education. The children benefit, the community benefits. Your purchase helps fulfill many dreams.
Voices from a Vanished Past
Voices from a Vanished Past, Simone Feldman's memoir of her childhood in Nazi Germany is now available at Shop Susila Dharma.
"I have always been intrigued by Simone Feldman’s indomitable yet light-hearted spirit. Yet, many an evening she would share a story about her family’s efforts to escape capture during the Hitler Regime. Voices from a Vanished Past captures the spirit of an adolescent girl during World War II in Germany. Reading Simone’s memoir, you have a sense, not just of danger and hardship, but also of faith, courage, and joy."
